01 Introduction to Recording a Demo (Ages 15-18)

  • Muting and soloing tracks

03 Introduction to Mastering (Ages 15-18)

Bring along your laptops, headphones and mixes from home and learn how to enhance and finish your tracks, making them truly professional! If you don't yet have your own material to workshop, a session will be provided for you to work on.

You'll learn:

  • What is Mastering? Why is it important?

  • Software versus Hardware

  • Monitoring and Acoustics

  • Workflow

  • Fades and track order

  • EQ (corrective and creative)

  • Compression (How to use it on the Master Bus)

  • Limiting

  • Loudness metering and dynamic range

  • Stereo width

  • Stem mastering (What exactly is a stem?)

  • Mastering for different formats

  • ISRC, CD text and Red Book compliant CDs

  • Sample and Bit rates

  • Creating a DDP master for replication

  • File transfer services and protocols
